Solution categories

What each type of system actually does

In plain language, so you can tell which conversation you are having with us.

Water softener

Best forScale, spotting and hard-water buildup

Ion exchange removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale. This is the only approach that actually removes hardness minerals from the water.

Saltless filtration / descaler

Best forHomes that cannot or prefer not to use salt

The iSpring WGB32B-DS uses sediment, carbon and polyphosphate anti-scale media so minerals are less likely to stick as scale. It does not remove hardness, so water will still test hard.

Whole-home carbon filtration

Best forChlorine, taste, odour and sediment

Carbon media reduces chlorine, taste and odour throughout the house. Included in every LoneSprings softener package rather than sold as an upgrade.

Softener + carbon combination

Best forHardness and water quality together

The configuration most Central Texas homes need. Softening for scale protection, carbon for how the water tastes and smells - and a free tank RO for drinking water.

Reverse osmosis

Best forDrinking and cooking water

A softener is not a drinking water filter. RO at the kitchen sink is what produces purified drinking water. Included free with our whole-home package, or $500 standard installation on its own.

Well water treatment

Best forPrivate wells

Iron, sulphur, sediment and bacteria are all treated differently. Well systems are configured from test results, not assumptions.

Reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink reduces a wide range of contaminants - lead, arsenic, asbestos, cysts, mercury and more - so every glass, every recipe and every cup of coffee starts with water you can trust. Filter changes take seconds with quick-change cartridges.

Qualified to protect your water

Master licensed, with a water-supply protection endorsement

Water treatment is plumbing, and plumbing that touches your drinking water deserves more than a basic licence. LoneSprings holds the Texas credentials that exist specifically to protect water supplies.

  • Master Licensed Plumber · RMP #46341
  • WSPS Endorsed
  • CSI Inspections Available

Required by Texas water utilities

Customer Service Inspections (CSI)

A Customer Service Inspection is a plumbing safety check that Texas public water systems require when a property connects to public water for the first time, after significant plumbing changes, or whenever the utility suspects a contamination risk. Only a licensed inspector with the right credential can perform one - and LoneSprings can, so you are not waiting on a third party.

A CSI identifies

  • Cross-connections between drinking water and any other water source
  • Potential contamination hazards, such as unprotected hose bibs, irrigation or boiler connections
  • Improper or illegal plumbing materials and conditions, including lead solder and banned pipe
  • Water-supply safety issues that need correcting before your utility signs off

We provide the signed inspection certificate your water utility needs.

City water vs well water

Where your water comes from changes the answer

This is the single biggest factor in how confident we can be before testing.

City / municipal water

Best forMost homes in Bastrop, Elgin, Kyle, Buda and Austin

Typical concerns are hardness, chlorine or chloramine, taste and odour, and sediment. Treatment is fairly predictable, which is why we can usually quote from the quiz alone.

Private well water

Best forRural Bastrop County properties

Iron, sulphur, sediment, hardness and bacteria vary property to property. We do not promise a result from a questionnaire - a water test tells us what we are actually treating.

How it works

Understand, match, install

Three stages, and you are only involved in the first one.

  1. Understand your water

The 60-second finder, plus a water test where the answers are not conclusive. Well water and unknown water always start here.

  2. Match the right system

We configure the system around your household size, water source and the concerns you told us about - salt or saltless, with or without a softener loop. You do not have to understand resin volume or valve models.

  3. Professional installation

Licensed plumbing integration, 3-way bypass, proper drain connection, programming, hardness testing before and after, and a walkthrough.

Common questions

Water treatment questions, answered

Do I need a water softener in Central Texas?

Central Texas water is generally hard enough to cause scale on fixtures, spotting on glassware and buildup inside water heaters and appliances. Whether you need a softener depends on your actual hardness level and how much the symptoms bother you. We test hardness before recommending anything.

What is the difference between a softener and a whole-home filter?

A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale. A carbon filter reduces chlorine, taste and odour. They solve different problems, which is why every LoneSprings softener package includes carbon filtration rather than selling it separately.

What is a saltless system, and is it the same as a softener?

A saltless system - we install the iSpring WGB32B-DS - uses sediment, carbon and polyphosphate anti-scale media so hardness minerals are less likely to form scale. It does not remove them, so your water will still test hard. It suits homeowners who cannot or prefer not to use salt, but it is not a like-for-like replacement for a softener. We will tell you honestly which one fits your water.

Does a water softener filter my drinking water?

No. A softener treats hardness throughout the house but it is not a drinking water filter. If you want purified water for drinking and cooking, that is what a reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink does.

Tank RO or tankless RO - which is better?

Neither is universally better. A traditional tank system has a proven design and a lower equipment cost. A tankless system saves space under the sink and delivers higher flow without a storage tank. The right choice usually comes down to how much cabinet space you have and how much purified water you use.

How do I know what is in my water?

A water test. We check hardness before and after installation as standard, and for well water or unexplained symptoms we recommend testing before recommending equipment at all.

What if my house does not have a softener loop?

Our starting installed pricing assumes your home already has a softener loop and an accessible drain. Many newer Central Texas homes do. If yours does not, we install the loop and plumbing setup for $1,950, added to your starting price. Not sure whether you have one? Say so in the finder and we will check at no charge.

How much maintenance is involved?

A salt-based softener needs salt topped up periodically. Carbon and sediment filtration needs media or cartridge changes on a schedule we will explain at handover. We install serviceable equipment so parts can be replaced rather than the whole unit.

How much does a system cost?

Our whole-home packages start at $3,500, $4,995 and $6,000 installed depending on the equipment, and the LoneSprings Water Systems Water Filtration System includes a free standard tank RO system. RO-only installation is $500 plus the system; installing a softener you already own is $1,195. Final pricing depends on water conditions, system configuration and installation requirements - which is exactly what the water solution finder and a site visit establish. Financing is available through Wisetack, subject to credit approval.

Is the reverse osmosis system really free?

Yes. Every LoneSprings Water Systems Water Filtration System includes a standard tank reverse osmosis system, installed at your kitchen sink at no extra cost. If you would rather have a tankless RO, we quote the upgrade with your system.

Can you install a water softener I bought myself?

Yes. Customer-supplied softener installation is a flat $1,195 and includes the installation, plumbing permit, a 3-way bypass, pipe insulation and a resin catch filter. It assumes an existing softener loop and an accessible drain.

What does the $60/month Water Quality Maintenance Membership include?

Filter changes for your whole-house system, RO system filter changes, salt delivery, a yearly maintenance visit, priority scheduling, discounted plumbing services and ongoing care of your water treatment system. Members never buy a filter again for as long as the membership is active.

Do you offer financing?

Yes - financing is available through Wisetack for initial installations, including whole-home systems, saltless filtration, RO installs and softener installs. Approximate monthly payments are shown with each package as examples only; actual terms are subject to credit approval.

What is a Customer Service Inspection (CSI)?

A CSI is a plumbing safety inspection required by Texas public water systems - typically when a property first connects to public water, after major plumbing changes, or if the utility suspects a contamination risk. It checks for cross-connections, contamination hazards, improper or illegal plumbing materials and other water-supply safety issues. LoneSprings holds the Water Supply Protection Specialist endorsement and can perform CSIs and provide the certificate your utility needs.

Need a plumber or a CSI inspection?

Leaks, water heaters, drains, gas lines and Customer Service Inspections. Same licensed team, same local service.
